How the app handles your data
Our servers are content blind. They never fetch, read or store your channel list, your program guide or any stream.
That sentence is the design, and the rest of this page is what it means in practice.
Where your content actually goes
Section titled “Where your content actually goes”Your device talks to your source directly. When you play something, the stream travels from your source to your device and nowhere else. It does not pass through us, and we hold no copy of it.
When your device builds your channel list, it downloads the list from your source itself and keeps it locally. Our servers are not asked to fetch that address and will not do so.
What our servers do hold
Section titled “What our servers do hold”- Your account: sign-in details, subscription, and which devices are signed in.
- The definition of a source: a name, an address and credentials, stored so your devices agree on which sources you have configured. Never its contents.
- Settings that follow you between devices: profiles, favorites, custom groups, parental locks, resume points and similar preferences.
Favorites and resume points name a channel or a title, because otherwise they could not follow you to another device. What they never include is the channel list itself, the guide, or anything that would let us reconstruct what your source offers.
The two checks we do make
Section titled “The two checks we do make”When you add a portal, the app asks it for account details, and checks that the guide address you supplied exists. Both are checks of shape, not of content: does the portal answer, and is something there.
We are naming this explicitly rather than leaving it out, because “we never contact your source” would be the tidier sentence and it would not be true. What remains true is that we never download your catalog and never fetch a stream.
Recordings
Section titled “Recordings”Recordings are files on your own device. The server holds no recording data, there is no cloud library, and there is no page anywhere on our side that lists what you have recorded. If you move or delete the file, it is gone; we cannot restore it because we never had it.
Why it is built this way
Section titled “Why it is built this way”A server that fetched your streams would need to know what you watch. Not having that data is a stronger guarantee than promising not to look at it, and it is why the answers on this page do not depend on trusting us.
The cost is real and we accept it: support cannot see your channel list, cannot test your stream and cannot tell you why one disappeared. See what we can help with.
My TV Player is a media player only - we do not provide, sell, or include any channels, streams, or content.
