Get help when something is wrong

Help is reachable without leaving the app, and there is a way to reach a person when the docs do not answer it.
1. Open help from the app
Section titled “1. Open help from the app”Open Settings, About. From there:
- Help and documentation opens this site.
- Get started opens the setup guide.
- Troubleshoot opens the problem pages.
The About page also shows your Version and build, which is the first thing to quote when you ask for help.
2. Report a problem
Section titled “2. Report a problem”Choose Report a problem under About to send a report, or contact support from the support page, which also sets out what support can and cannot help with. Most playback problems are the source, not the app, and is it the app or my source? helps you tell which before you write.
3. How updates arrive
Section titled “3. How updates arrive”You do not check for updates by hand. The desktop app is serviced automatically: a new version downloads in the background and applies the next time you start the app, so there is no update button to press. If a version becomes too old to keep working, the app shows an Update required screen with a link to the current version.
Reading an error code
Section titled “Reading an error code”When the app can be specific it shows a code beginning with MTP-. Look it up on the
errors index for what it means and what to do.
