What this app can't do

Finding a limitation after paying is worse than reading it here first. This page is the honest list for the Windows app, with the reason for each entry and, where one exists, the alternative.
It cannot give you channels
Section titled “It cannot give you channels”My TV Player is a player. It ships with no channels, no streams and no content, and there is no catalog to browse without a source. You bring a playlist or portal from a source you already have; bring your own source explains the model.
It cannot fix your source
Section titled “It cannot fix your source”When a stream buffers, drops or refuses to open, the app can tell you whose problem it is, and does, with an error code you can look up here. What it cannot do is repair, test or speak for a source it has no relationship with. Is it the app or the source? is the two-minute read that saves most tickets.
Recordings do not follow your account
Section titled “Recordings do not follow your account”Recordings are files on the PC that made them. They are never uploaded, never synced and never visible in the web console, because our servers never touch content; that is the privacy boundary described in architecture and privacy, and it is permanent, not a missing feature. The alternative: record on the device you intend to watch on, or move the files yourself; they are ordinary videos.
It cannot cast
Section titled “It cannot cast”There is no Chromecast, AirPlay or DLNA sending today. The alternative is the app running on the screen you want to watch: the Windows app on a PC or the Xbox app on the TV.
It cannot change playback speed
Section titled “It cannot change playback speed”Movies and episodes play at normal speed only, for now.
It cannot record a whole series with one rule
Section titled “It cannot record a whole series with one rule”Recording is per program. Scheduling every episode automatically is not available yet, so a weekly show means a weekly visit to the guide.
It cannot use separate subtitle files
Section titled “It cannot use separate subtitle files”Subtitles embedded in the stream work; a subtitle file sitting next to a video is not read today.
It cannot download for offline watching
Section titled “It cannot download for offline watching”Movies and episodes stream from your source. Saving one for a flight is not available yet; recording live TV is the nearest thing that works today.
The web console cannot see the channels your source supplies
Section titled “The web console cannot see the channels your source supplies”Deliberate, and the same privacy boundary as recordings: why the console cannot see them. Watching happens in the apps; the console manages sources, devices and billing.
