Which version to install

There are two Windows builds. Most people want the stable one.
Stable
Section titled “Stable”Take this unless you have a reason not to. It is the version that has been through a full release, it updates on its own, and it is what support assumes you are running when you report something.
Preview
Section titled “Preview”The next release, published early. New features arrive here first, and so do the problems with them. Updates are more frequent and occasionally something is broken for a day or two.
Take it if you are comfortable with that, and particularly if you are helping us test something specific. If you report a problem from a preview build, say so, because it changes what we look at first.
Switching between them
Section titled “Switching between them”Installing the other build over the top keeps your sources, profiles and settings; they live in your account and in local data that both builds share.
Moving from preview back to stable can mean waiting for the stable release to catch up before you see the same version number again. Nothing is lost in the meantime.
Which one am I running?
Section titled “Which one am I running?”Settings shows the version and the channel it came from. Quote both when you contact support: it is the fastest way for us to know what you are looking at.
